Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital:

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH), New Brunswick, NJ, is the primary teaching hospital of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. RWJUH consists of 507 medical/surgical beds, accredited residencies in all specialties and subspecialties, and serves as a tertiary care facility for the 2.8 million people living in central New Jersey. The Cancer Hospital of New Jersey is part of RWJUH and includes 103 beds including a medical oncology floor with 31 beds, a hematologic malignancy floor with 20 beds, and a designated Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit with 11 beds.

Ambulatory Clinics:

The Clinical Academic Building, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ), and Saint Barnabas Medical Center provide extensive ambulatory facilities for hematology and oncology outpatient care.

Global Oncology Elective Program

This is a non-mandatory elective for fellows to spend at least 1 month at University of Botswana School of Medicine during their 3 year Hematology-Oncology Fellowship. Fellows identify a research project based on Botswana’s needs in cancer care and their professional interest. The objective for their time in Botswana is to gain exposure to Oncologic care in a resource-limited setting and identify a research/quality improvement project that they can remain involved in throughout their remaining research blocks in fellowship. Participating fellows engage in regular seminars and research-related activities.
