Ankit Shah, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He earned his medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He then completed internal a medicine residency and an endocrinology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Shah is an active clinical and translational investigator. During his fellowship, he received a Ruth L. Kirchstein National Research Service award to study the role of glucagon-like peptide-1 on glycemic improvement after gastric bypass surgery. At RWJMS, he currently studies substrate utilization of gluconeogenesis using isotope tracers and mass spectrometry analysis. Dr. Shah was selected as an NIH KL2 Scholar by the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science. He has also received several external foundation awards to support his research work.
Dr. Shah maintains an active general endocrine practice and serves as a Core Faculty member for the RWJMS Endocrinology Fellowship. He is passionate about mentoring and training fellows to become skilled and thoughtful academicians and investigators.
